This Oakville project started with an older arched front door and ended with a sharper, more updated entrance. The new design keeps the original shape of the opening, but changes the look with a black finish, a large glass insert, and a classic grid pattern. The result works well with the home’s traditional brick exterior while giving the entrance a stronger presence.
Project overview
We custom built this door for the arched opening, manufactured it in Toronto, and installed it in Oakville. That is important in a project like this, because arched entrances need the right proportions from the start. When the fit is right, the installation goes more smoothly and the finished entrance looks the way it should.
The new fiberglass slab has a simple face and a large central glass insert. The grid pattern keeps the glass balanced, while the black finish adds contrast from the street. Inside, the larger glass area brings more light into the entry.
Before and after: a cleaner entrance with better balance
The change is easy to see. The original door had a lighter finish and more decorative detail. The new one is simpler and visually stronger. It keeps the same arched shape, but the darker colour and cleaner lines give the entrance a more current look.
This kind of update works especially well on brick homes. The entrance looks more defined, but it still suits the style of the house.
