What Are Awning Windows?
An awning window is a window that is hinged at the top and opens outward from the bottom. The top stays in place, and the bottom swings out. This is why it is called an “awning” window.
Awning windows are often used in basements, bathrooms, and other areas where the window is higher on the wall. They are usually smaller than many other window types and can be operated with a crank or a manual mechanism.

Glass & Glazing Options
Awning windows can be ordered with different glass (glazing) options to support comfort and energy savings. The right choice depends on your project, window size, and your goals.
Common glazing options:

Low-E glass: helps reduce heat loss in winter and can also help limit heat coming in during summer. It also reduces UV rays that can fade fabrics and carpeting.

Clear glass: a clear insulated glass unit can offer better noise protection than single-pane glass, but it does not have the same heat-control benefit as Low-E.

Triple pane glass: often chosen for higher energy efficiency because of the extra pane. Special coatings may also be used to improve energy performance.
Low-E coating options: LoE 180, LoE2-272, LoE3-366, LoE i89.
